Unbelievable, look what happened in the photo.

An image of small gray squares connected appears to move instantly before your eyes.

The image challenges viewers to see through the illusion and stop the moving squares for at least 10 seconds, but that seems to be a skill not everyone can master.

In fact the figures on the screen are static, you see them as moving because your brain is being tricked by the illusory movements.

This is because the optical illusion arranges squares with luminance-based edges that artificially activate motion-detecting neurons in the visual pathways, leading our eyes to read the change in light as motion.

One of these stunning images shows how the brain is tricked into thinking a static black hole is expanding.
