Trump Lawyers Say He Can’t Make $464M Bond
Attorneys for Donald Trump informed a New York appellate court on Monday that the former president is in severe financial distress as a result of his legal losses and that he is unable to post a bond equal to the full amount of a $454 million civil fraud verdict while he files an appeal.
“Obtaining an appeal bond in the full amount” of the judgment “is not possible under the circumstances presented,” according to a court filing written by Trump’s attorneys. Trump stated last year that he has “fairly substantially over $400 million in cash,” yet his legal debt has surpassed half a billion dollars as a result of consecutive courtroom losses.
