However, even in this setting, the head coach of the New York Jets made a recent alleged statement that stands out. “If you include Kaepernick in this conversation, I’m out. “You think he’s a quarterback, I say he’s a ticket to TMZ,” he allegedly teased reporters. What a way to set the scene!
The former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers is Colin Kaepernick. More notably, he is the one who started a national conversation while on his knees. In 2016, he protested during the playing of the national anthem. As expected, there were differing opinions. He was called a traitor by some, and a hero by others. In the present day, Mr. Kaepernick’s football prowess has diminished. Rather, he’s now recognized as the official “controversial guy” in the NFL.
The injury to Aaron Rodgers hurt not only the New York Jets but also their fan base as a whole. The Jets had put their hopes on Rodgers, and suddenly he was out of commission. Kaepernick’s name surfaced as rumors about possible replacements began to circulate. Naturally, this infuriated everyone, including the head coach of the Jets.
“This is not a political campaign; this is a football game!” The coach could be heard yelling. Although a little excessive, the sentiment wasn’t totally out of the ordinary. The coach’s position has always been to maintain the game’s primary focus.
After the 49ers, Kaepernick has shown remarkable versatility. An activist? Yes. An advocate for Nike? Verify. Possible contender for the presidency? Well, that one is still up for debate.
