Iggy Azalea has announced her retirement from music in a message to fans.
The singer and rapper took to X/Twitter to say that she will be pursuing a career in design and leaving music behind.
I have always been someone who finds joy in being creative and seeing my ideas come to life. For a long time I used music to spread my ideas. I know a lot of people have this idea that I’ve been ‘bullied away from music’ and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I would never be bullied for anything. Actually, I’m very stubborn. I think I have sometimes resisted change within myself, simply because I don’t like to be seen as someone who gives up. Really what I’ve known for a long time is that I feel more passionately about design and creative direction than songwriting. That’s why I want to let you know that I won’t finish my album. It went on hiatus for a few months while I was directing another project and I really just haven’t felt like getting back into it. I know for some fans this probably makes you feel a little bad, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But it’s more important that I don’t let myself go. I hope you will understand.”
